I went on a frozen adventure today. My friend Faith called and said she needed to get out of the house and she wanted to know if I wanted to go find Bald River Falls. They were (according to her) completely frozen. She had seen a picture of someone standing on them last week and she was hell-bent on going to see them. So we hopped in the car and took a 75 mile trip to the falls.
Last week, it was below freezing for many consecutive days in a row, but then for two or three days the temperatures spiked and it was between 60 and 65 degrees, which probably melted the frozen falls. The edges of the falls were still frozen, but the water itself was flowing ever so steadily.
Either way, the drive was nice. We got to catch up. We got to take some pictures of the snow on the mountaintops of Tennessee. We got to go into the Cherokee National Forest. I don’t think I have ever been on that side. And I found a route that I am looking forward to riding on the back of a motorcycle this summer (or spring). The views were great. The ride was fun. It was cold but we still managed to cruise with the sunroof open. That’s pretty much protocol for me anytime the sun is out no matter the temperature.
Today’s escapade made winter seem a little more bearable. I guess I need to get out more often even in the cold. It was refreshing. And we climbed part of a mountain so I guess that could be considered exercise even if it was only a mile or so.
I did learn one little tidbit of information today. I liked my iPhone camera way better than I like this android camera. So I’m gonna have to figure something out because I take too many pictures to be cursing the way I did today because I kept having to re-take pictures.
So anyway, here are some pics from our little journey.
